Once there was a great evil that tried to corrupt the whole world until a group of powerful heroes joined together to combat it. And they succeeded. Mostly. Unable to end the evil entirely, they locked it away. But they knew eventually the magic would wear down and it would escape again, so they made an arrangement. By fusing magic into their own blood, their gifts and abilities would be passed on through the generations, waiting to awaken should the need ever arise. Their guardian's line would continue being taught what had happened in that first fateful fight, prepared to guide their descendants in the battle which would eventually emerge.
A myriad later, and the magic wore away, their descendants' powers were awoken and their lives changed forever. Thrown into a war they weren't prepared for, weren't even aware of, our three heroes and their guardian must do what they can to defeat the evil as it rises again.

Born in a small fishing village, in a family where human, tiefling and triton blood all mixed, Xelas’ life seemed set to be far less interesting than his bloodline. The games of wild adventures and grandiose heroics he had often enjoyed were all well and good, for a child. But adult life was a different matter. Xelas’ expectations were very clear: go to school, learn the trade, grow up, put aside such fantasies, join the family business, start his own family and eventually die a supposedly happy man. What more could he possibly want? It was a question to which Xelas had no satisfactory answer. Yet he shirked the expectations where he could. Rather than fishing, he took to diving and salvaging lost treasures from wrecked ships, from those who had once been lucky enough to go further than Xelas could ever hope to possibly achieve. Until Destiny decided to give him a taste of what he had always longed for: true adventure and the chance for freedom beyond the ocean-barred confines of his home.
